So, here goes with my first post!
Hi, I'm Nicola, The Secret Wedding Photographer. Welcome to my Wedding blog! I'll introduce myself properly in a later post as I am really excited to share this weekends events with you.
It's been a slow and bumpy ride starting up as The Secret Wedding Photographer. I'm not going to mention the 'C' word but needless to say, it has had a huge impact on myself and everyone else in the wedding industry as well as all the lovely couples who just want to say 'I do' surrounded by family and friends.
In trying to develop leads, I came across an invitation to an open event at a new Essex Wedding Venue, Sandy Brook Fields, Writtle. It sounded like the perfect venue for me as a photographer; outdoors, set in beautiful farmland, a tranquil lake and a set up for bohemian, teepee style weddings and so I made an enquiry... In an unexpected turn of events, the booked photographer was unfortunately unable to attend but this meant that my enquiry turned into an opportunity to be part of a fantastic shoot to present the venue and its associated suppliers to a wider audience.
The location turned out to be everything I had hoped for and more. The beautiful lake is adorned with lilies and surrounded by bulrushes, the endless fields were lush and green, bordered by trees on one side and crop of maize on the other; all perfect for creating some beautiful images which enhance portraiture, adding interest but not detracting from the bride and groom.
Colour images from the shoot are available to view now in albums however, I am showcasing the black and white images for the blog because I am passionate about monochrome which I feel is often overlooked for weddings. This is not surprising of course as there are a wealth of colours in the beautiful floristry and locations, but I feel there is always something a little bit special about the emphasis on emotion which the exclusion of colour creates. Would you consider black and white photography for your wedding?
