Family: A little world created by love

If you are thinking about whether or not to invite children to your wedding; here is the perfect example of why it's a no-brainer for some couples!

This is my third attempt at this blog post... Writing doesn't come naturally to me and I tend to overthink every word. I even tried a bit of AI this time!! It came up with some brilliant ideas about why you might like to allow children at your wedding, however, I came full circle and decided to stick to my own words and style. Like my wedding photography, it's simple and authentic, just an honest reflection of how I found the beautiful wedding of Lauren & Cameron...

A family portrait in the woods

It has been such a pleasure to get to know Lauren & Cameron and their beautiful family. With four children between them, and a large extended family making their way down from Scotland, it was clear that this wedding was going to be a fun and family-centred celebration, full of special moments. Lauren was quick to point out the potential for chaos but clearly embraced this and so I knew with my relaxed approach to wedding photography, we would be a great fit.

The children's involvement in the the day was almost as important as the Bride & Groom's. With Lauren's beautiful daughter as one of her bridesmaids and their three gorgeous boys as Best man, ring bearer and page boy - all in traditional Scottish Tartan - the whole family had a part in the special memories being made.

The love between the joining families was evident throughout the day - and I include the other guests here too. There was an all round sense of family and I felt honoured to spend the day in this wonderful little world created by love. From the moments between grandparents and grandchildren to the moments between friends and their friends' children, the warmth and care surrounding the happy couple radiated and there were plenty of beautiful candid moments for me to capture.

The littlest could often be found hanging on to Lauren's stunning, fitted gown or on Cameron's shoulder whilst the rest of the children raced around the venue's contained grounds, but when bride and groom took time out for a little walk about alone, everyone pitched in with the children to give them a moment to be together.

As was to be expected, there were a few tears, (not just from the groom) and some reluctant camera subjects; but these little moments were just as genuine and heart warming as the the bride and groom's first kiss. Kept busy with the sweet trolley and a children's entertainer with multiple tricks up her sleeve, the infectious joy and energy that the children brought was was nothing but uplifting.

Yes, it can be great for parents to leave the kids at home for an adults night out but it can equally be just as valuable for children to see their parents relaxed and having fun and for them to play a part in the memories being made. I don't think Lauren and Cameron would have had it any other way and they pulled it off perfectly.

Sharing these moments of happiness brings families closer together and in a world where its difficult to make time to stop, weddings are the perfect opportunity for togetherness.
